Fast Times – Day 4 Update – Letting, Go!
Everyone has a different thing to contribute to the world. Can’t do it all – can only be in one place at a time.
the day 4 fast experience…
Today was easier. I slept well, ate my oranges, worked. I’ve pretty much pooped everything out now. Lookin forward to eating tomorrow!
Started getting closure, too…
I am you, as you are me…
When I see something going on, I naturally identify with it. “How is that going on with me, too?”
Clearly something needs to change in Egypt. 8 million Egyptians over the last weeks demonstrated this. So I think, “does something need to change with me, too?” And when I hear about scarcity of food, I want to help! And so I started this fast.
But damn…there’s already a lot to do here.
a different kind of revolution…
America had a revolution. In my humble opinion, it’s time to do a new revolutionary thing: make good on this promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You always keep tweaking as you go – but as for political revolution: been there, done that.
If there’s one common call, too, that I’ve heard from both the Egyptian people and the Egyptian government, it’s for Americans to let the country resolve this itself. “This is our own thing,” said one civilian in a NYTimes interview. “This is our country and it’s not right for Obama or America to have a say about it.” (link to interview below)
the pursuit of happiness…
We’ve each got molecules to research, logos to design, classes to teach, instruments to fix, greeting cards to sell, programs to write, friends to support, kale to grow, houses to decorate, dances to have, books to read, stars to read, peace to find. Me, I’ve got music to make!
Tomorrow I’ll end my fast at 5 pm. With my heart and ears open to those struggling afar, and with faith that I’m playing my part by doing it, I remind myself: I’ve got shit to do.
Yours,
Parzival
